We are delighted to be working with a local authority client, recruiting on their behalf for a Caretaker at a visitors' centre, a role that is available on a full-time basis.

This is a short-term role and commands a standard hourly rate of £9.90 per hour.


Experience in basic cleaning and gardening is desriable as well as experience and knowledge of first aid and security is desirable.

A current Enhanced DBS subscribed to the update service would be ideal or a willingness to obtain one.


You must have a demonstrable passion to enjoy physical work and working outdoors, as well as have a motivated, conscientious, honest, and caring attitude.


  • To ensure the health, safety and welfare of employees and the public by complying with the appropriate health and safety policies
  • To comply with the council's policies and procedures
  • Undertake relevant training for the job.
  • Security of the buildings and grounds during specified times.
  • Locking and unlocking of buildings during specified weekend and evening times.
  • Cleaning (primary task) of the building and ensuring toilet facilities are clean and stocked with towels, toilet tissue, soap etc.
  • Contact with the public dealing with enquiries, taking messages and deterring vandalism
  • Liaise with the public and provide hospitality to various visitor user groups
  • Care of buildings to include small repairs, and basic maintenance.
  • Call out caretaker when required and available
  • Pick litter from the centre, grounds, and park
  • Assist with the maintenance of the grounds
  • Assist with the land work in the immediate vicinity as deemed appropriate by the Manager
  • Porterage and setting up of equipment.
  • Act as the first point of contact for emergency services.
