We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our team at our esteemed care home.
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the qualified chef in preparing and serving delicious and nutritious meals to our residents, while ensuring adherence to dietary requirements and IDDSI guidelines.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the chef in the preparation and cooking of meals, following recipes and portion control guidelines.
- Ensure that meals are served according to IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) guidelines and maintain proper documentation related to IDDSI training completion.
- Assist in the planning and preparation of menus, ensuring a variety of dietary requirements are met.
- Help maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
- Assist with stock management, including receiving and storing deliveries, monitoring inventory levels, and rotating perishable items.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and timely meal service.
- Support the chef in training and supervising kitchen staff members on proper food handling and preparation procedures.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a kitchen assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Completion of IDDSI training, with a solid understanding of IDDSI guidelines and their implementation.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and familiarity with kitchen equipment.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- A genuine interest in the wellbeing of elderly residents and a desire to contribute to their dining experience.
