Description
This is a new post, created to meet increasing clinical demand. The post holder will join an established group of 7 consultants (pending College approval)

  • The post holder will:
- provide Consultant Haematologist duties including outpatient and inpatient care, advice and guidance to other professionals and an on-call commitment;
- share responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Haematology Department;
- ensure maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of haematology patients;
- assist in teaching, training and supervision of junior staff and medical students where applicable;
- actively participate in both Departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit.

  • This post would be suitable for an established consultant, or a trainee who holds a completed CCT or can show equivalence to the UK CCT.
  • The appointee will have completed the approved Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB) curriculum in haematology or be able to show (to an Advisory Appointments Committee) evidence of equivalence in knowledge, training and experience in clinical and laboratory haematology practice.
  • The MRCP and the FRCPath in haematology (or their respective equivalents) are an essential requirement for the appointment.
