About the Role:
SHES Safety Rules Specialist - Interconnectors, Warwick (hybrid working)
National Grid Ventures (NGV) develops, operates and invests in energy projects, technologies and partnerships to accelerate the development of a clean energy future.
NGV's diverse portfolio of low carbon and renewable energy businesses across the UK, Europe and US includes sub-sea interconnectors, liquefied natural gas, battery storage, wind and solar power.
You will be a member of the SHESQ team, within the UJV Interconnector portfolio, who provide the highest level of Safety, Health and Environmental management including System Safety (Safety Rules/Instructions) specialism.
You will help lead on statutory compliance within the zone against internal and external policy and procedures relating to Safety, Health, Environment & Sustainability.
What you'll be getting up to:
- Lead on all Safety, Health, Environment & Sustainability issues, including statutory compliance, using a high level of SHES knowledge.
- Create a positive safety culture in the zone by communicating, embedding and ensuring SHESQ procedural compliance and consistency within the zonal team.
- Lead and monitor the Occupational Safety and Environmental Incident Investigations process ensuring investigations are carried out in a timely manner; to acceptable standard; with appropriate actions; and sharing of learning.
- Lead on guidance and interpretation of SHES procedures and Safety Rules to staff in the business. Undertake audits as required, on SHES topics and Safety Authorisations.
- Carry out authorisation interviews for Safety Rules Authorisations.
- Interface and support the safetyrelated training including setting the standards; representing the business; identifying improvements; and providing feedback.
About You:
- Experience in safety management within an electrical/energy sector
- Effective people management and communication skills, in a delivery environment across a range of staff
- Understanding of the cost of SHES controls and cost benefit analysis of implementing controls
- Minimum HNC or equivalent in a STEM discipline, preferably electrical engineering (desirable)
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (desirable)
- Driving license
