You will be managing the Adults' agenda.

This will entail a focus on Living Well and on Ageing Well, as outlined in the Slough Health & Care Plan (July 2021) and in the Slough Wellbeing Strategy for There will be an emphasis on transforming commissioned services, developing policy and developing system wide transformation which seeks to reduce health inequalities.

Commissioned services include, for example, those for substance misuse and an Integrated Wellbeing Service for Adults.


You will be leading the day-to-day operational delivery of the public health programmes, managing public health staff, co-ordinating their work and coordinating public health advice and support to other parts of the Council and system partners.

The Public Health Lead will manage two Public Health Officers.


What you'll be doing:


One of the Leads will be managing the Adults agenda (including substance misuse and the Integrated Wellbeing Service for Adults) and the other will be managing the Children and Young People agenda including the Health Visiting and School Nursing/Health Child Programme.


You will be leading the day-to-day operational delivery of the public health programmes, managing change and transformation within the public health department including managing the public health staff, co-ordinating and supervising their work and coordinating public health advice and support to other departments across the Council and their partners.


Both posts report into the Public Health Principal who in turn reports to the Deputy Director of Public Health of public health service within Slough and each Public Health Lead will support two Public Health Officers (two for each lead).

What you'll have:


  • We are seeking to appoint a highly organised and experienced Public Health Lead to provide strategic input to the design, planning, implementation and evaluation of public health programmes across Slough Borough Council. You will play a pivotal role in improving health outcomes and committed to reducing inequalities within Slough, working in Public Health and across the wider system.
  • You will be a key point of support to the Council through strong partnership working and leading on specific elements of the public health portfolio across Slough Borough Council with a prominent position with the Frimley Integrated Care Partnership, as part of the Public Health Strategy team.
  • The person we are seeking will be a resourceful and competent public health professional with a trackrecord of strategic delivery and problemsolving. You will need to demonstrate strong communication skills, strategic leadership, and practical experience of effectively managing staff and budgets. A high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness and negotiation and motivation skills as well as flexibility and sensitivity are required.
