JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Production Managers you will take responsibility and accountability for all manufacturing activity.

You will supervise the operators to ensure that productivity; efficiency and quality levels are reached and maintained, ensuring that operators are working to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and in line with current H&S legislation.

You will ensure a strict compliance to GMP and housekeeping procedures taking a pro active approach to upkeep of all factory floor areas.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


Productivity

  • Working with the Production Manager's/supervisors and using daily plan organise the work load to ensure that all delivery expectations are achieved (notify management well in advance of any potential issues of achieving given plan), whilst meeting production output targets
  • Understanding the concept of LPMH and how the 3 main components of this figure work _(run speed, MR time and lost time)_
  • Understand basic expediting functions relevant to manufacturing process
  • Communicate production requirements and responsibilities to all team members effectively
- 'Walk the Floor' on a daily basis and ensure maximum efficiencies are obtained on each machine during the folding process

  • On an ongoing basis and using 'Production data, provide any positive / negative shift output feedback with respect to machine, targets, personnel and environmental issues
  • Manage both guillotine staff to ensure all folding lines (including flat in accordance to daily schedule) are supplied with work as necessary, whilst ensuring there are no bays waiting for cut work on an ongoing basis
  • Attending the daily morning meeting, report any production issues that may have occurred during your shift to the Management Team
  • Have a full appreciation of the PSA production plan including jobs being on time / late and materials being available.
  • Prepare job status information and report to the Production Manager prior to the morning meeting
  • Implement on an ongoing basis, the adoption of best working practices and 'Operational Excellence' methods, in order to maintain process efficiency and competitiveness
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in the key aspects of manufacturing performance

People Management & Training

  • Support and champion both your individual and the team members continual personal development, in line with individual and departmental KPI's
  • Maintain shift discipline and control any planned/unplanned breaks, report to management any individual or team concerns on an ongoing basis
  • Assist production management with undertaking the shift's 'Development Reviews'
  • Assist in the completion of Quality Complaints using the approved CAPA methodology.
  • Support any training initiatives of team members identified during individual development reviews and assist production management in continually reviewing and updating departmental training matrix
  • Identify training needs and develop operators through coaching
  • Promote a team working ethic by example

General

  • Using the 'Daily Shift Output Sheet' ensure performance figures are recorded on a daily basis
  • Proactively discuss with fellow supervisors and ensure time is allocated for relevant information to be passed on and that a smooth and effective shift handover takes place daily, report any issues that may have occurred or remain unresolved
  • Provide support to your shift, other team leaders and the management staff at all times
  • Ensure that the SFDC system is being used appropriately during your shift. Report on any integrity issues
  • Ensure all machines are maintained in line with the Maintenance schedules and that all records are completed
  • Using the 'Walk the Floor' process, report on any corrective and preventative maintenance issues to management on a daily basis
  • Report any misuse or abuse by staff to machinery or company property on an ongoing basis
  • Use 5S principles throughout the factory. Drive the appropriate housekeeping standards required by the Pharmaceutical Code of Practice and ensure all team members complete relevant housekeeping records

Health & Safety

  • Again using the 'Walk the Floor' process, report on any H&S issues to management on a daily basis
  • Take the lead with regards to any H&S issues throughout the site including the competition of near miss forms and involvement in Risk Assessments etc
  • Take the lead with regards to any evacuation/emergency situation that may arise.

QUALIFICATONS:


Educational and Professional:

  • Graduate calibre or similar through experience / vocational qualification.
  • Proven experience of managing teams

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • People management skills
