In general:

To ensure the development, maintenance, and dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post holders professional and service manager(s) To ensure the development and articulation for best practice in psychology within and across the service, by continuing to develop and exercise skills of a reflexive and reflective scientist practitioner, taking part in regular professional supervision and appraisal and maintaining an active engagement with current developments in the field of clinical psychology, and related disciplines.

To maintain and promulgate the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing, and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice of (e.g. Health Professions Council, BACP, BACP, BPS) and Trust policies and procedures.


To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies, and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health.

To fully participate in the Trusts performance and review the personal development planning process on an annual basis.

To undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with line manager as part of the personal development planning process.

To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.


To contribute positively to the broader developments within the Trusts developing network of psychological therapies (Allied Psychologies Forum) in the context of long-term health conditions.

To receive instructions from and carry out any other duties at the reasonable request of the line manager which are commensurate with the role, including project work.

To contribute to a healthy and safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and Trust policies.
