Job Purpose and Role:

This role requires the delivery of Home Energy Checks which is a part of Age UK's Warm Homes Programme.


The post will deliver initial assessments of home energy efficiency, provide advice and guidance on keeping homes warm on a budget as well as installation of basic energy saving equipment such as radiator foils, draught excluders and lightbulbs.

**_An Enhanced DBS Check will be required_

  • A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes including transportation of equipment is required (with appropriate business insurance)_

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

To visit client's properties and assessing their needs.


To undertake Warm Home Checks for the homes of suitable clients to include assessment of the occupants understanding of energy efficiency issues, provide guidance and advise on energy efficiency and to fit draught excluders, radiator foils, energy efficient lightbulbs etc as appropriate.

To complete paperwork detailing time and materials required to complete works to produce an accurate quote.


To have an understanding of the needs of our clients and the services we offer, working effectively and efficiently and in a clean, safe and logical manner.

To be a proactive member of the organisation and referring clients to internal services as appropriate.

To operate and maintain basic light machinery and powered hand tools.

To take responsibility for basic cleaning and maintenance of any equipment issued, reporting any issues to your line manager.

To have a clear understanding of and ability to adhere to health and safety guidelines.

To have the ability to Risk Assess and implement safeguards to risk.

To form an active part of the team, participating in team meetings and attending regular 1-1s and appraisals.

To think and act in a supportive and non - judgmental way.

To be prepared to undertake regular training as required by the Service, including online training modules.


To be willing to work flexibly and travel across the Service's operational area as defined by the Team Leader as required.

To carry out any additional relevant tasks or duties as required on the instruction of any manger.


To ensure that safeguarding of service users is a key priority and take any necessary internal and external procedures and actions.


General:


  • To undertake other such responsibilities and duties as may be required by your line manager within the level and grading of the post, working flexibly as required.
  • To work collaboratively with others in achieving the aims and objectives of Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire set out in the Organisational Strategic Plan.
  • To work within the policies Procedures and quality frameworks adopted by Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire with particular attention to equal opportunities, data protection/confidentiality, safeguarding and health and safety requirements.
  • To participate in relevant audits and continuous improvement programmes, to ensure service delivery is maintained in line with internal and external standards.
  • To participate in the supervision and appraisal systems adopted by the Organisation.
  • To undertake relevant training as required by the organisation and agreed with your line manager.

Fixed term contract

Salary:
£11.00 per hour

  • Hereford, Herefordshire: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
