This is a key leadership role within the Institute of Nursing and Midwifery Care Excellence, supporting and enabling the Assistant Director of Nursing (Research, Innovation and Transformation) in relation to
research and innovation activity. The post holder is responsible for the development of systems and policies supporting nursing and midwifery research and innovation across the Trust and within the Institute for N&M
Care Excellence. This includes initiating and developing research and development programmes and policies which have an impact outside NUH.


The post holder will support the Assistant Director of Nursing Research, Innovation and Transformation to ensure alignment of Corporate and Divisional research, innovation for the nursing and midwifery clinical workforce.

Main duties of the job


A lead role supported by the Assistant Director of Nursing for Research, Innovation and Transformation in the development and implementation of a Trust-wide Nursing and Midwifery research, innovation and evidence based practice strategy which meets national and international nursing agendas and is aligned and integrated with the Nursing and Midwifery and Trust R&I Strategies.

The role will also include, planning, conducting and supporting high quality clinical research, collaborating within and across HEI
and NHS organisations. Providing expertise in design, development, analysis, and dissemination of new knowledge and the use
of evidence to guide and support clinical practice. Advising Divisional Nurses and their teams to deliver an integrated R&I strategy for their Division. Working collaboratively, autonomously, and with authority arising from the use of advanced levels of knowledge and skills, to deliver, shape and develop scientific nursing/midwifery research across
organisational, geographical and professional boundaries. Acting as a catalyst of change for practice and service development, challenging and redefining professional and organisational boundaries.

Essential criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing/Midwifery and NMC registered
  • Evidence of completed Masters training in research
  • Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Additional related clinical specialist qualification
Desirable criteria

  • PhD in nursing/midwifery or closely related topic
  • Post graduate teaching and assessing qualification
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Recent experience at a senior level including project management, change management, and multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of leading and managing large improvement and doctoral level research projects/study
  • Evidence of having achieved challenging organisational targets
  • Experience of leading projects in a complex organisation
  • Experience and understanding of key nursing and midwifery objectives and how research and education links to the Nursing and Midwifery strategy
  • Experience of developing complex training and education programmes
