TLTP are recruiting for a Literacy Coach to work in a PRU in East Acton.
This role will be long term and will be made permanent for the right person.
Overall Purpose of Job

The Literacy Coach is required to assist in the planning, delivery and monitoring of a co-ordinated programme of high quality Literacy and Reading intervention activities which are progressive and reflective of the needs of the students.

The Literacy coach will be required to develop resources and support links between curriculum areas and Literacy, to provide increased opportunities that motivate and develop the student's interests in aspects of Literacy and Reading.

The role includes workingwith whole classes, smaller groups and individuals.
Specific Responsibilities
The post holder will work with the Literacy Coordinator to develop Literacy and Reading.

  • The post holder will report to a member of the school management or designated senior manager.
  • The post holder has no budget responsibility.
  • The post holder has specific Health and Safety responsibilities in respect of their duties.
  • The post holder has specific risk management responsibilities in respect of their duties.
Leading, developing and enhancing the teaching practice of others

Advise and provide strategies to colleagues across the school in order to develop and support effective planning and teaching across the curriculum which ensure pupil's Literacy needs are supported and addressed.

Share examples of effective planning practice within Literacy.
Demonstrate outstanding and best practice in Literacy teaching and support, and promotion of Literacy excellence across the School.


Responsibilities:


  • Be a positive role model, creating a positive and stimulating environment in which students are motivated and encouraged to participate in Literacy and Reading activities.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current legislation / government initiatives within the teaching and learning of Literacy and ensure that long and medium-term planning meets all National Curriculum requirements and programmes of study.
  • Develop and implement a framework, which embeds the ethos and objectives of Literacy and Reading into all aspects of school life, including, curriculum, pastoral and enrichment activities.
  • Deliver Literacy and Reading based sessions to KS4 students, including delivering short courses as part of vocational learning and Enterprise.
