This role helps ensure the sustained continuity of technical mastery and line leadership in manufacturing, by leading a key line of the business (technical, system or organizational) to deliver results defined by the compelling business need of the site.

You ensure that key business results are achieved and for developing others to ensure the sustained continuity of technical mastery on the manufacturing line.

Using a systematic approach, you use strategic thinking skills to ensure results are sustained over the long term.


You will provide a single point of leadership on shift ensuring the day to day alignment of stakeholders and direct reports in order to meet all of our SQCDM KPIs across Bournville site (Logistics, Chocolate making and all production lines).


Responsibilities

  • Accountable for performance & people on shift
  • SQCDM
  • Responsible for morale, conduct & behaviour of shift team
  • Ensure volume, CTS & GE delivery
  • Decision maker for escalations on shift
  • Escalate safety, quality and production losses outside of shift according escalation matrix
  • Ensure safety of team, quality & food safety of products and Drive safety & quality improvements across shift team.
  • Compliance to Daily Management Systems on shift escalating as appropriate
  • Drive IL6S on shift and be accountable for AM step delivery for a line/area
  • Direct manager for shift coaches and shift managers including performance reviews and objective setting
  • Ensure timely response to breakdowns and compliance to PM tasks
  • Develop operators & technicians through delivery of objectives & personal development plans
  • Complete shift reports & handovers, setting next shift up for success
  • Facilitate RCAs on shift for triggered losses, identifying and delivering/supportingpreventative measures
  • Facilitate Small Group Activities/Problem Solving Groups on shift to drive improvements
  • Complete investigations for safety and food safety incidents
  • Work with days based teams to drive long term improvements
  • Own absence management including scheduling and hearing stage review meetings, ensuring RTW completed
  • Ensure delivery of training to operators to ensure cross site flexibility
  • Champions one model/strategic line/area to drive improvements
  • Workforce planning for own shift and looking ahead to other shifts
  • Working with trade union representatives to resolve challenging situations
  • Handling and conducting investigations re HSE, incidents, ER and disciplinary hearings
  • Organise, support and deliver Line Briefings and other communications
  • Responsible for overall GEMBA across all areas of the shift
  • Develop and implement shift engagement improvement plans, measure through engagement survey
  • Support internal & external audits while on shift
  • QP, X assessment, SMETA, ISO50001 etc

  • Proven track record of successfully managing teams of people in a manufacturing environment
  • Role model for conduct and behaviour
  • GMP, safety, professional conduct, integrity
  • Effective communicator both verbal and written
  • Ability to build and retain relationships at all levels and across all departments
  • Understanding of IL6S and how to implement across the shifts
  • Confident decision maker
  • Ability to think on their feet
  • Labour planning experience
  • Presence to confidently take control of situations requiring decisions impacting production
  • Experience of working with Trade Unions
  • Previous experience of handling investigations and disciplinaries
  • Experience of conducting RCA's and implementing actions from findings
