We are a diverse group of individuals providing support and assurance to some of the Department and Government's largest and most high profile investment programmes.
The work we do matters, assessing major investment programmes and projects business cases to ensure they are set up for success, and supporting them to deliver health and care infrastructure that truly affects everyone's lives.
We work daily to support, challenge and assure high profile Government priorities such as the New Hospitals Programme, Adult Social Care Reform or the £500m of new capital investment to tackle the Elective Recovery backlog from COVID-19.
- Major NHS Capital Investments such as upgrades, refurbishment or reconfiguration of hospitals and the wider NHS Estate
- Technology investment such as Electronic Patient Records, IT transformation and upgrades

The Investment Appraisal team sits within the Capital Directorate, which brings together the policy, financial and project management experience to deliver the Department's ambitious capital investment programme for the NHS estate, the Department and its other ALBs.
We work hand in hand with our partners in NHS Finance as one National Capital Assurance Team to improve the quality of business cases, alongside co-ordinating the engagement and input of a broader network of Economic, Commercial, PFI and Project Management specialists.

Role Responsibilities:
Key accountabilities for the role:
- Provide an effective business support function for the Investment Assurance Team
- Support with the drafting and coordination of approval letters and outcome summaries following Investment Committee approval of business cases under the guidance of Investment Assurance leads
- Develop and coordinate management information for the Investment Assurance Team and support in the presentation to internal and external stakeholders
- Opportunities to take part in continuous improvement projects developed within the Investment Assurance team to gain new skills and experience
- Support for the secretariat function of the Investment Committees, coordinating with senior stakeholders across the Department and NHS
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel skills can be developed during the role
- Communicating and Influencing providing high quality written advice, and tailoring communicating styles within a variety of contexts
