We are recruiting Ward Facilitator to act as an assistant to the Sister/Charge Nurses in GRaDE on Ward Robert Hadfield 2.


This is an exciting and key role that provides confidential administrative support to the Sisters/Charge Nurses and Ward Co-ordinators releasing time so that they can manage their nursing and support staff to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care in their clinical inpatient areas.


You will be supporting the ward nursing team by working with various teams across the Trust and external to the hospital to ensure that all patients are discharged safely and effectively.

You will also support the Sister's with administrative tasks related to staff management and clinical care.


You will report directly to the Sister/Charge Nurses, but will have key relationships with the nursing team and clinical team looking after each patient.

Prioritise and organise own day-to-day work schedule, completing work within agreed timescales.

Prepare and produce high quality correspondence, minutes, agendas, papers and reports using Microsoft word and Excel.

Exercise discretion and maintain a high standard of confidentiality, communication and interpersonal skills including telephone enquiries.

Provide outreach secretarial support in the clinical team bases including collection, liaison and distribution of administrative material.

Take telephone messages and disseminate to appropriate staff as required.

Book Mandatory training for the team.

Book Appraisals for the team and ensure all staff are allocated the appropriate training sessions.

Update changes on e-roster to maintain a live system.

GRaDE Care Group is comprised of 3 clinical directorates:

  • Diabetes and Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology and Hepatology
  • Respiratory Medicine


All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campus' although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital.

The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus.

Outpatient services operate on both campus' and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
