At Greater Manchester Police (GMP), it's an exciting time as we implement our improvement plan, the Plan on a Page (POAP), to make Greater Manchester a safer place to live, work and socialise.

The Change Communication and Engagement Team plays a key role in communicating our POAP narrative, working alongside colleagues in Change and Transformation Branch.

We engage and deliver two-way conversations, to build trust and confidence by making sure colleagues and other stakeholders are involved in and informed about the Force's Change activity.

The Role

You will work closely with Change Programme and Project Managers and use a range of communication and engagement channels to ensure that the strategic narrative and key improvements and successes are effectively communicated.

You will also measure the impact of the communication and engagement activity, preparing reports to capture the lessons learned to inform future activity.

You'll be able to work at pace, be able to transform complex information into clear, easy to understand and compelling messaging and to target communication and engagement activity to specific stakeholder groups.

All applicants must be able to demonstrate experience of:

  • delivering internal communication.
- planning and delivering successful communications to support complex organisation wide Change.
- developing content and subediting.
- staff engagement and of how to use a multi-channel approach to achieve aims.
- measuring and evaluating communication activity.
- working at pace and prioritising and meeting tight deadlines often with multiple competing demands.
- working with senior leaders.

The role is based within the Central Park Complex with agile working and flexibility of hours within Force policy.
Please see the attached job description for more information about the role. Applications will be sifted against the 'essential and desirable' criteria within the job description.

Please note:

To meet the objectives set out in GMP's Plan on a Page, from 1 March 2023 the Change Communication and Engagement Team will sit in the new Corporate Communication and Engagement Branch.

Greater Manchester Police have been informed of potential personal tax implications for members of the 1987 Police Pension Scheme, who retire and take a pension between the ages of 50 and 54 inclusive and then take up employment as a Police Staff member.

Members of the police pension scheme whose age is between 50 and 54 who are re-employed as a Police Staff member have to meet certain conditions to keep their PPA and to protect against personal tax liability charges on any payments paid before the age of 55.

One of those conditions is that a break of at least 1 month is required where the re-employment is 'materially different'.

However, if the role is not deemed to be 'materially different' then a 6 month break is required.
