An exciting opportunity has arisen to for an innovative and forward thinking Orthotist to join the recognised Orthotic team here at East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The successful applicant will join the team of 7 Orthotists and 1 Orthotic assistant and an supportive admin team to deliver excellent care to inpatients and outpatients across East Lancashire.

Working closely with Multi-disciplinary teams within Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Diabetes and Urgent care.

You will be receive training and support to achieve clear competencies in a wide area of practice to allow you to develop your skills to set you in good stead for the rest of your career.

We are looking for an Orthotist, with experience or without experience to join our dynamic team.

The successful applicant will be part of a motivated, forward thinking supportive team who pride themselves on delivering the highest quality evidence based interventions.

The service is well supported by a team of admin staff who are integral to the functioning of the service.

We support flexible working and will discuss any part time or flexible working requests at interview.

Most of our orthotists work full time hours over 4 days, this pattern of working can be open to you once the probation period and competencies are met.

The successful applicant must have HCPC registration and a visa to work within the UK.

To deliver Orthotic clinical services to patients ensuring a safe provision of orthoses and appropriate liaison with other healthcare professionals for optimum care pathways
Personally manage a caseload of patients with both acute and chronic diseases in a diverse and multicultural population. Use Orthotic skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions taking into account the individual's needs
Work flexibly to cover patients in the acute and outpatient setting as caseload demands (this may be any hospital location covered by ELHT and community locations throughout East Lancashire)
Contribute to the delivery of education programmes to staff, and patients within case load.
Support the Trust training programme for pre registration student Orthotists.
Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Orthotic services.

Clinical support and supervision is available from the clinical leads as well as experienced peers. The post holder will be able to contribute to student training and continual service improvement.

Act as an independent practitioner, be professionally, legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work and that of team. Decide priorities for own work, balancing other patientrelated and professional demands in conjunction with line manager.
During course of work make use of computer systems for both accessing information related to patient care and inputting activity data i.e. Patient administration systems, Dept Information system (OPAS), Dept L drive and relevant web based education sites.
Be responsible for the delivery of Orthotic clinical care to patient caseload including patient assessment and advice, devising treatment plans to facilitate patient goals and monitoring patients as required.
Be responsible for the safe provision of Orthotic equipment and specification of bespoke devices. Ensure all risks are minimised and documented appropriately.
Be responsible for accurate recording of clinical findings and maintaining records in confidential and sensitive manner in line with HPC, Caldicott regulations and Trust Policy.
Be responsible for ensuring prescription decisions are made within best clinical judgement in a cost effective manner to provide high quality, best value Orthotic clinical care.
Responsible for referral and liaison other disciplines to provide optimum patient care. Recognising where alternative interventions may be appropriate.
Responsible for own safe use of workshop machinery and hand tools and for maintaining tool kit and equipment as required and reporting any faults.
