In this post, you will work closely with stakeholders across the College to ensure that the collection, retention and reporting of student data is of a high standard.


You will be based within the Student External Returns team and will work with colleagues to ensure Registry staff record and hold student data in compliance with statutory requirements as dictated by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and the Office for Students (OfS).

You will also provide advice, recommendations and expertise to staff and students throughout the College on the student record data and other areas of business.


This post will suit you if you have experience of working with large datasets, enjoy problem solving, and are keen to play a part in the continuous development of processes.


Duties and responsibilities:


  • You will support the quality assurance of student data throughout the year in preparation for statutory external returns such as the HESA Student and Unistats returns and issuing updates to Registry teams on the recording and holding of that data to ensure best practice and compliance
  • You will contribute to the completion of other, smaller nonstatutory data returns (such as those to the General Medical Council) on an annual basis
  • You will assist with responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests on behalf of Registry, providing advice to ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements for all responses involving student information
  • You will contribute to an active Data Quality Policy and ensure compliance and participation across Registry
  • You will assist with general College duties when deemed necessary (i.e. College Awards Ceremonies, College Open Days, Student Registration, etc)
  • The post holder is expected to familiarise, maintain and comply with all College policies and regulations (i.e. Health and Safety, Data Protection, etc)

Essential requirements:


  • Experience of working with large volumes of data
  • Experience of providing a responsive, customerfocussed service on the telephone, via electronic medium and face to face
  • Experience of using databases to store and retrieve information
  • Proven ability in the provision and analysis of statistical information

Further information:


  • The College is currently trialling a _Work Location Framework_ until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview._
