They provide support to people with mental health problems equipping them with daily life skills to live independently in the community.


You must be able to travel to Edgbaston or Spring Hill in Birmingham as these will be the main sites for this role.


What we need from you as an experienced Support Worker:

  • Have the ability to encourage and motivate service users
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to liaise with professionals/families and carers
  • Report writing skills
  • Must be computer and digital literate
  • Have an understanding of mental health issues
  • Flexibility/rota working/bank holidays
  • Ability to cope in a crisis situation
  • Well mannered, courteous and professional
  • Experience of caring in mental health would be preferred but not necessary

Desirable Requirements:


  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care

What the role involves:


  • Respond to on call queries as needed
  • Respond to referrals ensuring correct paper work is completed by the team
  • Carry out assessments ensuring information is completed to good written standard
  • Liaise with colleagues, managers and professionals as needed
  • Complete reviews and attend meetings as needed
  • Complete incident forms and provide updates as needed to management
  • Follow policies and procedures in particularly in line with referral process
  • Ensure all paperwork i.e. handovers, medication, temperature checks are carried out
  • Carry out health and safety checks and weekly audits of services users paperwork and to ensure actions have been completed
  • Helping to implement this care, playing a part in the continuing assessment and review of the individual's needs which will require some recording and attending meetings, as part of the normal working week
  • Giving personal and emotional support. This includes befriending the individual, listening to her/his views or worries and providing practical help
  • Offering physical and personal care, for example, where necessary assisting people with prompts of personal care, changing beds and other personal care, including medication (following the Adult Care Procedures), under the guidance of the Manager / Senior Care. This must take account of any cultural, religious of gender requirements

Salary:
£10.00 per hour
, working Days and Nights - shift patterns 8.45am to 8.45pm or 9.00am to 9.00pm and 8.45pm to 8.45pm or 9pm to 9am (will include weekends and bank holidays).
