Regular Giving Officer 12 month Maternity Cover - Southmead Hospital Charity


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced fundraiser to join Southmead Hospital Charity (SHC) as a 12 month maternity cover.

The post holder will be part of the Charity's data and individual giving team with responsibility for delivering the Charity's fundraising through individual giving and excellent data management.


With specific responsibility for the delivery of the Charity's individual giving programme the post holder will work closely with the Data Manager and senior management team to ensure the Charity delivers a proactive and donor centric programme of fundraising.


The post holder will require a good knowledge of fundraising and regular giving metrics, and with the ability to identify influential contacts both internally and externally.

North Bristol NHS Charitable Funds operates under the brand of Southmead Hospital Charity (SHC), Registered Charity number The Charity raises funds to support the healthcare services at Southmead Hospital, Cossham Hospital and in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset communities.

Working alongside our clinical teams, therapeutic support staff and our patient community, we raise funds for projects that are beyond the remit of the NHS.


The Charity, which was established in 1986, operates under the NHS Trust corporate trusteeship, with Southmead Hospital Charity Committee (SHCC) to manage day-to-day operations.

You will be joining an ambitious and successful team with exciting plans to impact more patients, research and increase support for our staff across the Trust.


Through the generous support of our donors and in partnership with North Bristol NHS Trust, Southmead Hospital Charity enhances the provision of high-quality care and supports patients, staff, families and carers by focusing on areas not covered or fully supported by central NHS funds.

The Charity supports five key areas across the Trust:
Ground-breaking Research, Patient & Family Wellbeing, Staff Wellbeing & Training, Cutting-edge Equipment, Enhancing Buildings & Spaces.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience of fundraising management disciplines, in particular those employed in the individual giving and data management sectors. Alternatively indepth experience of a relationship, sales role securing significant income.
  • Knowledge or best practice in fundraising management including the management of income and expenditure budgets, fundraising/charity law and governance.
  • Knowledge of the Information Commissioners Office, Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator, GDPR and other data protection and governing bodies.
  • Knowledge of marketing, communications and financial management.
  • Sound knowledge of the Institute of Fundraising's Codes of Fundraising Practice.
  • Knowledge of Bristol and the surrounding area and its influential groups.
Experience

  • Experience of fundraising/sales and a proven track record of fundraising/sales success.
  • Experience of developing robust plans.
  • Understanding of donor centric communications and marketing
  • Proven track record of achieving ambitious targets and delivering successful campaigns.
  • Experience of leading and motivating colleagues to achieve success.
  • Significant experience of working across a range of teams from volunteers to senior staff, influencing and building effective relationships at all levels.
