  • Our Corporate Affairs function is accountable for developing and driving Legal & General's brand profile and reputation, engaging across audiences to increase understanding, build advocacy and drive delivery of our purpose and business goals.

Reporting to the Group Corporate Affairs Director, the Head of Group Corporate Media and Issues leads the development of our media relations and issues management strategy, working alongside Group public affairs, policy, IR, comms, sustainability and divisional colleagues to nurture our relationships, spot opportunities to build reputation, and proactively manage emerging issues.

What you'll be doing

  • Being a key contributor to developing and delivering our Group Corporate Affairs strategy, working with Group and divisional colleagues, with specific accountability for evolving our Group / corporate media relations strategy to support business objectives, aligning to brand, public affairs, content and employee communications strategies to ensure coherence across audiences.

Maintaining strong relationships with business, industry and sector media, leading interactions around key corporate moments, identifying proactive opportunities for L&G to contribute to debates, and supporting sound reactive issues management.


Owning our Group Issues Map, working with colleagues to shape our strategic positioning and communications approach to developing trends and issues in our external environment and internally.


Defining and driving our senior leader profile strategy, group thought leadership campaigns and research programmes to position L&G effectively in debates that matter to our customers, clients and employees, and support business goals.


Partnering with Brand, Employer Reputation, Sustainability, and other Group functional colleagues to build media and communications programmes that support their goals.

Identifying and support external platform opportunities, developing briefings, speaking notes and drafting articles on behalf of senior leaders.


Driving continuous improvement of Group wide processes, measurement and evaluation and information sharing to strengthen cross divisional planning, collaboration and strong internal and external relationships.

What we're looking for


Knowledge:


  • Understanding of L&G strategy and direction
  • Awareness and understanding of the financial services sector and key debates impacting L&G's business
  • Understanding of evolving media landscape, breadth and depth of media relationships
  • Communications and campaigning strategy
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills
  • Public affairs / policy awareness desirable

Experience:


  • Previous experience working in complex regulated organisations, ideally in FS
  • Media relations and issues management
  • Corporate / financial media and communications
  • Narrative and campaign strategy development
  • Ability to interact with individuals across the organisation and external partners and prioritise varied workload
  • International experience desirable
