A rare opportunity to put your skills to use. Go2 People are looking for a Direct Payments Officer on behalf of their client to work in a Public Sector environment.

In the role of Direct Payments Officer your duties will be:

  • Registering new service users to the Direct Payments Scheme
  • Completing quarterly financial audits for service users
  • To develop, update and maintain documentation required to establish clients on the Direct Payments scheme
  • Auditing of the service users' quarterly financial returns
  • Closing down of accounts for any clients choosing to leave or being removed from the scheme
  • Monitor referrals made by the authority
  • To work with the Finance Manager and DP Development Officer to report on financial implications, budgetary impact and any other developments.
  • To support the development, analysis and reporting on yearly client and staff satisfaction survey, for use in contract review and scheme development
  • To attend the scheme Steering Group, and to provide regular updates on behalf of the finance section in the absence of the DP Development Officer
  • To ensure all registers are updated timely and monitored to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and policies
  • To be responsible for undertaking Client Information System audits to ensure that all service user information is correctly recorded, for PI, & NWPI use, and report on any discrepancies to each service
  • To undertake joint client visits with the case holder where necessary, to resolve ongoing issues
  • To support the training provided for authority staff and various external agencies with regard to financial processes for Direct Payments scheme. To attend team meetings and other forums at the request of the DP Development Officer
  • To work with the DP Development Officer in providing a link between all agencies and parties involved in the schemes operation and development. To attend presentations to Voluntary Organisations, Councillor's and other agencies as requested by the DP Development Officer
  • To support the development and updating of all internal and external promotional documentation
  • To support improvements in service delivery such as considering alternative delivery models, streamlining and modernising processes, and updating policies and communication methods
  • To have a working knowledge of other roles within Social Care Finance Team and to ensure adequate cover for leave and sickness

To be successful in the role of Direct Payments Officer you will need to possess:

  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting regulations and standards appropriate to the role
  • Knowledge of Direct Payments Scheme and Social Care
  • Good IT skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh desirable but not essential
  • Must be able to contribute to formal training events as necessary
  • Ability to have a flexible and responsive approach to workload
  • Take ownership of tasks and meet set deadlines and targets


This is a full time temporary assignment for at least 8 -12 weeks, on £11.38 per hour plus holiday pay.
