The Education Lead:

Pastoral and Preceptorship Lead role should appeal to an experienced registered nurse who has a passion for supporting the retention of newly qualified professionals.

You will be helping newly qualified professionals, nursing associates, return to practice nurses, students, and those in other clinical roles by imparting your knowledge, skills and experience through coaching and supporting them in the early stages of their career.

You will take an active role in innovation and the development of ideas towards enhancing and retaining the nursing workforce.

In addition to displaying excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills, being able to innovate, inspire and motivate staff towards excellence.

This role will be key in supporting newly qualified colleagues to stay and stay well. You will be responsible for leading and overseeing the multi-professional preceptorship programme within the Trust. You will measure the effectiveness and impact of the preceptorship programme on retention and staff engagement. You will also be involved in the international recruitment and retention of nurses.


Working closely with the Education Team, Chief Nurse Team, and Ward/ Department managers, you will provide both pastoral support and clinical expertise alongside support in the ward areas.

You will be a member of the Professional Nursing (PNA) team, utilising the principles of the A-EQUIP model to underpin their role.


You will provide leadership and line management responsibilities to a team of Legacy Nurse Mentors, and be able to work in clinical practice to support your team and the newly qualified workforce.

This role is vital to maintain and shape the future workforce at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
