Freeman College, based in Sheffield City Centre is an independent specialist college and part of the Ruskin Mill Trust, educating young people aged 16-25 years old.


DEPUTY PRINCIPAL - PRACTICAL SKILLS THERAPEUTIC EDUCATION (PSTE)

Salary Range:
£42,125 - £49,828 per annum.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Principal (PSTE) to join our College.


In this role you will be a lead member of the Senior Management Team and will deputise and collaborate fully with the College Principal to supervise and professionally support all staff members and create cohesion across all areas of the College.


You will be responsible for ensuring that the vision and method of Steiner Education and Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) is secured through consistency of process and that a high-quality provision is in place that meets the needs of all students enrolled within the College.


You will have:

  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience of educating young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND);
  • Experience of leading and managing change to deliver improved performance;
  • Experience of successful performance management, ideally through staff development;
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of having led, or significantly contributed to the success of an organisation through its leadership, vision, teaching and results;
  • Evidence of working with commissioners, parents or carers related to student profiles and admissions;
  • Be able to evidence experience of successful implementation of quality assurance processes to maximise student achievement and address concerns or identified areas of improvement.

To undertake this role successfully you will need:

  • An up to date knowledge of the legislative frameworks which impact on a 24-hour provision;
  • Experience of working within a complex organisation;
  • Knowledge of Rudolf Steiner Holistic Education with particular reference to the works and insights of John Ruskin and William Morris;
  • Be adaptable and show initiative with high levels of personal resilience and emotional intelligence.
