Role purpose
As a Legal Assistant you will be working in a demanding environment where your quick thinking, strong work ethic, attention to detail and accuracy are vital attributes.
The Dispute Resolution department is a growing team and is looking for a Legal Assistant to provide support within debt recovery.
You will need to develop a broad understanding of legal matters, client requests and the demands of your team often connected to sensitive or complex issues.
You will be expected to record your time and accordingly will have a target.Key responsibilities
In line with policies and procedures key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Diarising deadlines/directions on issued claims
- Front end file opening
- Creating client care letters
- Drafting/issuing proceedings
- Preparing monthly client reports as required
- Liaising with clients and lawyers
- Assistance with financial hygiene i.e. time recording and ensuring bills are raised promptly and followed up
- Billing debt work and disbursements
- An interest in the law and particularly issues concerning dispute resolution or litigation
- Personal effectiveness and selfmanagement
- Good communication skills with colleagues, clients and third parties
- Excellent organisational and team skills
- Good attention to detail
- Flexible and able to take the initiative
- Able to remain calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines
- Conscientious, approachable and enthusiastic
- Able to quickly build confidence, respect and trust with others
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visual Files, Aderant, Intapp.
- Experience of working in a professional services environment is an advantage
