Job description:


The Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) is the UK Type Approval Authority and ensures that road vehicles meet the minimum safety and environmental standards as required by GB, UK, and UN regulations.

The integrity, objectivity, impartiality, and professionalism of our staff is vital to delivering this service for the automotive sector.

We now have an exciting opportunity for Administration Officer apprentices to join us.


These roles could be based in either of our Statutory Operations departments in VCA at either our Bristol or Nuneaton offices.

You will be an important part of VCA, working across departments to support our activities and deliver our services to the automotive industry.

This post will be an exciting dynamic role, encompassing a variety of administrative support working, engaging with colleagues in the UK and overseas.

This is an ideal opportunity for a highly organised individual, who thrives on responsibility and working and networking with multiple departments and stakeholders within a busy environment.

The Level 3 Public Service Operational Delivery Officer Apprenticeship:An apprenticeship is an exciting opportunity to 'earn whilst you learn' by combining theoretical learning with practical 'on-the-job' experience; allowing you to work towards a nationally recognised qualification, whilst building skills in your daily role and earning a salary. An apprenticeship also allows you to secure a qualification with no tuition / student fees as the programme is fully funded by the department.


You will spend 20% of your contracted working hours dedicated to your apprenticeship and will be surrounded by a supportive network.

You will be allocated a mentor and will have regular development conversations with your line manager to ensure your learning needs are met and you are on track to successfully complete your apprenticeship.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Checking of manufacturer's documentation to facilitate the issue of high-quality documentation correctly first time. This will involve referencing and validating against multiple data/information sources.
  • Actively monitor, respond to and file appropriately correspondence received in shared mailboxes.
  • Issuing documentation within agreed time frames and SLAs (internal & external) to VCA customers
  • Keeping all VCA stakeholders informed on the progress and extent of current workload to facilitate efficient decision making, planning and delivery of work areas.

Person specification:


About You


We would like you to have an interest in working in the operational delivery profession and completing a Level 3 Public Sector Operational Delivery Apprenticeship.

You will be enthusiastic and display a pro-active approach to all tasks.

You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbally, with great attention to detail.


We will look to you to be organised and able to work efficiently as part of a team to achieve an objective.

You will have good IT skills and be comfortable using Microsoft packages.


Entry Requirements
To be eligible for this programme, you will need to:

  • Be at least 16-years old.
  • GCSE English and Maths (grades 9 to 4 or A* to C)
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have been a resident in the UK/EA/EEA continuously for 3years before starting the apprenticeship.
  • Have left fulltime education when the apprenticeship starts.
  • Not be in receipt of funding for other learning programmes (including another apprenticeship)
