The post-holder will support the Governance and Quality Manager in promoting and facilitating the development of effective governance, risk management, assurance and compliance management.
The post-holder will support the Governance and Quality Manager in providing and maintaining direct support to the Division with the co-ordination, implementation and delivery of the Divisional and Corporate governance agenda with a focus on patient safety.
- Monitoring of the Datix incident reporting system, approving incident reports and initiating / undertaking investigations as and where necessary and to the level required by the severity of the incident, escalating to the Governance and Quality Manager as required.
- Responsible for serious adverse event investigations. Undertake investigations as required by the Division / Trust / Commissioners. Attend H.M. Coroner inquests as author of an investigation report if required.
- Responsible for coordinating statement completion & submission for coroner's inquests, supporting staff through the process & coordinating senior staff to support staff giving evidence at inquests.
- Support the Divisional Governance Team, when required, to ensure complaints are responded to in a timely fashion.
- Support the Governance and Quality Manager in ensuring that lessons are learned from incidents and complaints, from across the Division and the Trust, supporting the Divisions to ensure that this learning is translated into improvements in practice and patient care.

- Support the Governance and Quality Manager in identifying key themes, trends and areas for development arising from incidents and complaints within the Division.
- Support the Governance and Quality Manager in the preparation of governance reports, action plans and any other relevant documents as required by the Division and the Trust.
- Support the Governance and Quality Manager in producing / supporting the development of risk assessments and risk registers for the Division.
- Support the preparation of agenda items for the Division quality board meetings and ensure relevant papers are available. Identify actions from the meetings and manage information and actions plans.
- Attend appropriate committees and working groups as and when required.
- Support the Governance and Quality Manager in ensuring that adverse incidents identified by complaints are reported through the Trust Incident and Risk reporting systems.
- Deputise for the Governance and Quality Manager in their absence as and when the need arises.
