WHAT TO EXPECT -


Working towards the creation and delivery of our future vehicles, the successful applicant for this role will be responsible for the creative processes at the earliest stage of a project, through to the co-ordination of feasible solutions, and releases to tooling.


This is a creative position with involvement in the ideation of new designs, through to the development of virtual and physical design properties to the highest level of maturity and refinement.


WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR -

  • To contribute and assist in the development of strategic advanced concepts as well as delivery programmes and accessories.
  • Act as a deputy to the Design Managers.
  • Be capable of leading on a specific interior or exterior project and act as the single point of contact for other functions or stakeholders.
  • Supervise a team of designers and modellers.
  • Develop and Coach junior members of the Design Team.
  • Regularly present to the Design Directors.
  • Create new ideas and challenge conventional thinking in problem solving.
  • Liaise crossfunctionally to ensure twoway communication on project feasibility.
  • Develop the virtual and physical design properties of their specific project, to the highest level of maturity and refinement.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job, as may be requested.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED -

Essential:


  • Proficient illustration and visual evaluation skills to visually and verbally communicate ideas and solutions.
  • Proven experience of aesthetic judgement of surface, surface juxtaposition and appearance.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering and production techniques and processes, and strong market / business acumen.
  • Previous experience of the generation of designs for production and concept vehicles, including experience of visualising and communicating design solutions in 2D and fullsize 3D properties.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Essential IT skill high level of Photoshop ability.
  • Proven experience of leading projects.
  • Strong level of organisational skills.

Desirable:


  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Design related systems, e.g. ALIAS / VRED / Photoshop / Power-Point.
  • Strong understanding of surfacing requirements.
  • Previous experience of the automotive industry, including competitor and market awareness.
  • Some experience or knowledge of all design roles, from concept generation to production ready design delivery.
  • Worked on a project to concept car or production stage.
