About the Organisation


Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide are the only national UK charity providing peer-to-peer support to those over the age of 18 years who find themselves impacted by suicide.

We provide several support services both face to face and virtually as well as specialist groups and an online community forum.


We are looking for three administrators to provide cross-functional administration and general support to our growing team within the head office.


Position:
Office Administrator / General Finance Administrator

Location:
Head Office, Ilkeston, DE7 5HE - 100% office based

Hours:37 Hrs per week (but will consider 25 hours plus) Monday -Friday 9am - 5pm


Salary: 24Kpa pro-rata for part-time


Contract:
Permanent after successful six-month probationary period

The Role


As well as being the first point of contact for people wanting to access our services, our volunteers, external providers and general callers all posts will provide general, all-around support across a range of functions.

One post will also be providing dedicated financial administration for our Finance Officer. There is the potential to progress to the role of Office Manager.


Please note that although you will come into contact with survivors from time to time, this is purely an office based administrative role and you will not be providing support to survivors.

  • Use computer systems to input data and produce documents using Microsoft office packages and bespoke software including online graphic design
  • Maintain electronic and manual filing systems, document management, and record keeping
  • Assist in bookings and preparing documents for events
  • Undertake general clerical duties, photocopying, filing, data cleansing, collation of information folders, etc.
  • Provide cover for other members of the administration team as necessary
  • Preparation and updating of basic posters, leaflets, and literature using bespoke software
  • Ensure adequate levels of supplies i.e., stationery, publicity, and merchandise material, and place orders appropriately
  • Process Gift Aid claims
  • Provide financial support including basic inputting, banking of cheques
  • Support with Retreat and caravan bookings
  • Preparation of publicity information
  • Updating electronic group maps
  • Respond to and prepare volunteer, professionals and general public online stationery, resource and shop orders
  • Prepare and send out correspondence
  • Supporting Volunteer Coordinators and Volunteer Administrator with training tracking & sourcing support material

About You
As an Administrator, you will

  • Be logical, well organised, and able to see a job through from beginning to end
  • Have previous office administration experience, possibly looking to return to work within an office environment
  • Pay attention to detail
  • Be computer literate and able to work on all aspects of MS Office as well as bespoke systems
  • Be able to work as part of a team supporting those going through a difficult time in their lives
  • Be able to speak fluent English in order to communicate fully in the role with clients and volunteers
  • Provide information by telephone in a sensitive and courteous manner

Salary:
£24,000.00 per year
