***Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Democratic Services Officer to join us

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and flexible individual to join our small, but hard-working team to shape the delivery of democratic support for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Working at the heart of the Council this role will liaise and work with officers, politicians, and members of the public.

The role will support meetings of the Council's Committees so will involve working outside of normal working hours for which either overtime or time off in lieu can be offered.

The role will also require liaising with senior officers and councillors to ensure agendas and reports are submitted in line with legislated time frames.

The successful applicant will manage the work programmes for their committees. You will need to be polite, professional and understand the importance of confidentiality.

  • When writing your supporting statement, please supply examples of your previous experience that relate to the job description tasks and key attributes.
The role also involves carrying out tasks within our wider team of Electoral Services. With the introduction of the Elections Act 2022, Electoral Services is a challenging and ever-changing environment.

You will work as part of a small team which is responsible for compiling an accurate electoral register, implementing statutory procedures, and administering transparent elections and referendums.

What we offer:

  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays and option to purchase more. (Increasing to 32 days annual leave from April 2024 pending consultation.)
  • One additional day off for your birthday
  • Flexible working including a hybrid working pattern for a better worklife balance.
  • Generous Local Government Pension scheme includes life cover (3 times of annual salary); and an Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) scheme to enhance your pension provision.
  • Free employee parking close to the offices.
  • Give As You Earn scheme.
  • Instant Reward Scheme to recognise and reward innovative achievement.
  • Employee Assistance Programme providing counselling, advice and information.
  • Access to discounts and deals with hundreds of retailers, including discounted gym memberships and travel deals.
  • If you have a disability, are a current or former member of the armed forces or have been part of any formal care system up to the age of 25, you will be guaranteed an interview, should you meet the minimum requirements for the role.
Interviews planned for Mid-April 2024.
