Overall Aims of the Post:
Vision Support supports people with sight loss to live a life that is fulfilling and seeks to build people's confidence to become and maintain their independence.
This important role will support Vision Support by providing a sightloss helpline for people across Cheshire West and Cheshire East of all ages.
You will be doing this by promoting and distributing information throughout Cheshire, offering support over the phone and face to face, ensuring information is kept up to date, signposting/referring people to Vision Support and external organisations, and monitoring outcomes through our internal database.
Key Responsibilities:
- First point of contact for service users with sight loss enquiries
- Signpost people to organisations and services as needed
- Produce, monitor and update information packs for service users across Cheshire West and Cheshire East
- Research services and opportunities for people across Cheshire, develop relationships and contacts across other organisations
- Record any gaps in services and report to the Operations Manager for Cheshire, and external partners
- Promote the service across Cheshire West and Cheshire East
- Maintain accurate records, complete relevant project documentation, and database inputting for monitoring and reporting purposes
- Collect feedback at regular intervals
- Greet all clients and visitors ensuring that they are welcomed to Vision Support
- Support administration within the organisation
- Contribute positively to the success of Vision Support's strategic aims, recognising the importance of integrated working
- Attend training as required
Additional Duties:
- Willingness to travel within the area and the community we work within.
- Ensure value for money and best use of resources in all activities related to the post.
- Any other reasonable duties as may reasonably be required by your line manager.
This is a new post and it is not possible to cover all potential responsibilities in the job description, therefore it is expected that the post-holder may be required to carry out tasks not specifically covered within their job description.

Training will be provided to enable the postholder to carry out the job effectively.
Awareness training (including listening skills, attitudes to visual impairment, causes of visual impairment, suitable equipment and sighted guiding techniques) will be given.
Ongoing training and regular staff meetings will follow induction.Applicants are advised that contact with guide dogs may be necessary within the workplace.
Vision Support operates a no smoking policy within its buildings.

£13,765.00 per year
