About the job:

We are currently working with a Local Authority based in North London in search of a Full-Time Best Interest Assessor to join their Dols Team.

This position benefits from hybrid/flexible working. This role is initially on a 3-month locum basis with the potential to be extended. You will be working 36 hours a week.

As a Qualified Social Worker within the team, you will be:

Undertaking independent Best Interest Assessments and Mental Capacity Assessments related to the Deprivation of Liberty process, in accordance with accreditation as a professionally warranted Best Interest Assessor, relevant legislation, policy, statutory guidance and case law
Scrutinising care and support plans put in place by LBWF officers to ensure these do not unlawfully restrict Article 5 of The European Convention on Human Rights (a person's liberty), and are in accordance with the Local Authority's legal responsibilities
Ensuring any decisions taken by LBWF officers to restrict the liberty of individuals over the age of 18 who lack mental capacity in relation to their care, support and residence are in the adult's best interests, are proportionate and least restrictive; ensuring any specific conditions in relation to the person's care and support are in accordance with the principles of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards code of practice
