You will contribute to the development of funding propositions to deliver the strategies and policies that support sustainable economic growth in Perth and Kinross.

The post holder will be expected to (a) identify external funding opportunities relevant to the delivery of the Council's priority for sustainable and inclusive economic growth and (b) to take the initiative in working with colleagues on the development of specific projects seeking external funding.

The role will require extensive research and analytical skills, familiarity with the policy context driving relevant external funding sources and a high level of competence in bid writing, communication and team working.


The main duties will be:

  • Assist in identifying relevant external funding sources
  • Ensuring relevant staff are aware of the opportunities available
  • Keep the funding landscape under ongoing review and identifying new opportunities that the council or partners can bid for
  • Coordinate and support awareness raising at council and partnership level of external funding opportunities through establishment of, and effective use of, corporate and partnership communication networks and channels
  • Support the development of project proposals in consultation/ partnership with council officers and/or external agencies and partner organisations
  • Supporting service departments to develop project proposals and funding bids that comply with funder requirements and are of the requisite quality to be successful in securing funding
  • Providing advice to project leads in respect to external funding compliance/claims and supporting them to minimise financial risk to the council through noncompliance or failure to drawdown funds.

The postholder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description for the post.

Requirements:


  • Knowledge of external funding programmes and processes
  • Experience of securing external funding
  • Understanding of current Economic Development issues
  • Knowledge of local, regional, and national strategic priorities and funding initiatives
  • Experience of working in a professional environment delivering project development, implementation, and review
  • An awareness of budgeting and financial management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to tailor communication to a variety of audiences
  • Selfmotivated and able to work on their own initiative but must equally be able to work as part of a team
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Analytical and problemsolving skills

The Individual:


You must have a Relevant Degree or equivalent experience and a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
