Senior Lecturer Catholic Education:

  • Job description

The Institute of Education (IoE) actively works within a distinctive and inclusive mission, with a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate routes into the teaching and related professions.

It offers a range of opportunities for advanced study including the MA Catholic School Leadership and the MA Education:
Religious Education programmes.

St Mary's is increasingly popular with those wishing to engage in doctoral research in Catholic education within a Professional Doctorate (EdD) or a PhD.

As part of CERRL (Centre for Catholic Education, Research and Religious Literacy) colleagues from across the IoE initial teacher education and postgraduate programmes collaborate on a wide range of research and CPD activities relevant to Catholic schools.

Core areas of Catholic education research include the recruitment and retention of Catholic RE teachers, CMATS, the transmission of charism, the faith accompaniment of young people, the experiences of non-Catholic teachers in Catholic schools and the history of Catholic education.

IoE staff are expected, encouraged and supported to commit fully to personal and on-going academic and professional development pertinent to their specialist fields of teaching.

Strong support is available to a newcomer in Higher Education.

Job Purpose:

To teach on the EdD and MA programmes and supervise EdD and PhD research.
