Role Overview


The Vision for the Cambridge West Innovation District is to bring together Academia, Strategic Commercial Partnerships, Entrepreneurs and the Community in a carefully curated ecosystem, to help solve some of the world's most complex problems.

The Director's role is to implement the Vision.


Role Purpose & Responsibilities


The Executive Assistant to the Director of Cambridge West will provide the highest level of professional assistance, undertaking administrative tasks and supporting the development of the Innovation District.

You will coordinate and manage scheduling, prepare and organise strategic materials, support board meetings, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders on the Director's behalf.


You will serve as their eyes and ears; connecting organisations, projects, and critical business information, ensuring meetings and materials effectively deliver against their priorities.

As such, you are expected to handle sensitive, confidential information with discretion.

Day-to-day, you'll manage the Director's diary, balancing competing priorities and understanding the need for flexibility within busy schedules. You'll liaise with people at all levels internally and externally, quickly establishing rapport and providing information as required.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Arranging meetings, travel and drawing up itineraries
  • Interacting with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring the Director's office correspondence is processed efficiently
  • Drafting correspondence on behalf of the Director as appropriate
  • Supporting the Director with Governance matters, including Board meetings (collating materials, preparing briefings, drafting agendas, or taking minutes)
  • Coordinating with HR and the Estates Division on recruitment matters for the Innovation District; provide financial administration.
  • Managing small projects across interdisciplinary teams as required.

About You
For this role, you'll possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Educated to degree level/ Level 6 qualification or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable experience as an executive assistant in a large organisation
  • Competence with standard IT packages including Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience with CRM systems (desirable)
  • Experience of working in busy environments identifying the strategic requirements of the team to prioritise work
  • Strong organisational and problem solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic financial acumen to manage and report upon operational budget and expenses
