The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Ionic Liquids.


This two year industrially funded postdoctoral research associate (PDRA) will be conducted in the Department of Chemical Engineering in the University of Manchester and is aimed at supporting the development of ionic liquids for the transformation of waste plastics into their component parts.

The project aims to modify the plastics both in pure form and as part of composite materials to facilitate downstream processing using heterogeneous catalysts.

The project aims to understand the mechanism of the transformations in order to design new ionic liquids for more effective plastic processing.
