Job Purpose
Reporting to the Decoration Manager, the Decoration Technician is responsible for operating and providing technical support within the Side Decoration department.
A key part of the role will be to operate the lines in accordance with the production plan whilst maintaining high-quality standards.
In addition to operating the machines, the Technician will maintain high standards of machine maintenance and housekeeping and jointly carry out changeovers as required to maximise line efficiencies and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Change over and set up of the Rotary Print lines, fitting plates and blankets, setting Ink ducts, and adjusting pressures and colour on Print stations to match design specification before starting production.
- Prepare and stage all materials required for production, including, Mixing Inks, Basecoats, Plates, DIF's and shells.
- Maintain Print and colour Quality by carrying out regular checks and where necessary, make system adjustments to ensure products conform to the current standard for colour and aesthetic appearance.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping for all Inks, Basecoats, and Colour standards. Working closely with Print Tech to ensure all relevant materials are available.
- Carry out all activities in a safe manner and demonstrate a high standard of behavioural safety within the department, seeking help or guidance as required.
- Responsible for accurately recording all relevant production data including, machine settings, traceability data of raw materials, including inks and coatings and logging any downtime incurred during the shift on the appropriate paperwork or database.
- Working with minimum supervision, using acquired knowledge and skills to carry out faultfinding tasks, demonstrating the capability of resolving faults safely and satisfactorily to maintain continuous levels of good production
- Reporting any maintenance requests, breakdowns & Hazard reports using appropriate systems and working in partnership with Engineering to resolve line issues.
Experience
- Strong manufacturing background
- Sound technical knowledge
- Experience in working with Print and Colour advantageous.
- Sound PC skills including the use of Excel, Word, and Email
