Lulworth ward is a general surgical ward with a friendly and professional team that will provide an ideal environment for applicants to develop their skills, knowledge and competency in the challenging demands of caring for the acute surgical patient.

We have on ward support from a clinical practice educator and work closely with the relevant specialist nurses and also support from the discharge team for the complex discharge.


Lulworth ward is a 31 bedded ward where you will need to be able to care for patients before and after surgery and be involved in all aspects of care from admission to discharge.

You will need to be able to adapt to the changing workload whilst delivering compassionate, safe high quality care.

The successful applicant will be joining a positive, friendly and supportive team focused on goals driven by patient experience and evidence based best practice.

The role of a Healthcare Assistant is a very privileged role, as a HCA you will provide personal care and support to patients at their most vulnerable times.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide a compassionate, caring and safe environment for our patients.

To excel in this role you will

  • Have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.
  • Have an eye for detail and be able to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Be flexible and willing to work across a variety of adult wards within DCHFT.
