Newport City Council is looking for someone who can support us to continue to deliver against our ambitious climate change programme with the vision of becoming a carbon neutral organisation by 2030.


We need someone who is motivated to make a difference, has exceptional organisational skills and wants to drive engagement both within the Council and with the public.


The post holder will be part of a growing multi-skilled Climate Change team that is responsible for our Organisational Climate Change Plan and our Local Area Energy Plan for the city.

Main duties of the role

Support with delivery of Newport's Organisational Climate Change plan including providing administrative support for meetings and update reports

Support delivery of the Local Area Energy Plan including the development of detailed action plans

Support the Newport Climate Change Staff Network with projects that they wish to pursue

Lead on the development and implementation of a communication plan for Climate Change work both internally and with the public

About you


The role would suit an individual who is driven to tackle climate change and who has previously worked in a role supporting groups or committees.

Applicants should have prior experience of engagement and have excellent communication skills. Previous experience of local government would be an advantage but is not essential.


Applicants should be qualified to degree level or equivalent and have substantial administrative experience as well as an interest in energy, climate or carbon reduction.
