Description
To lead maths in KS2:
- Identify areas for improvement within maths linked to the school development plan and local and national initiatives.
- Coordinate the development of a cohesive and effective plan.
- Ensure that mediumterm planning meets all National Curriculum requirements.
- Monitor teaching and learning though learning walks and review days, book reviews, data analysis and through pupil voice thereby ensuring, consistent good practice of maths across the school.
- Model good practice and share this with other staff as required.
- Support, motivate and advise staff, and work alongside them in the development of their classroom practice, where appropriate.
- Disseminate information to the staff and provide INSET to promote staff development and improve classroom practice.
- Support and advise teachers with planning as required.
- Lead the actionplanning in mathematics for the School Improvement Plan.
- Share ideas and practice with other maths leads from across the MAT.
- Attend relevant training, participate in research, and share knowledge, skills, expertise, and enthusiasm with colleagues, including information from local & national sources.
- To carry out teaching duties consistently meeting the requirements of the Teachers' Standards and leading as an example of excellence.
- Ensure mathematics has a high profile in school, pupils have access to this and it is well used by pupils.
- Ensure staff and pupils have access to suitable resources to enable effective teaching and learning within maths.
