Description

As a Pharmacy Service Assistant you will undertake duties to support the pharmacy team such as ordering, dispensing, packing and supplying of medicines to wards, departments and patients homes.

You will work closely with the team to gain the required skills, knowledge and behaviours for the role.

The main duties of the role will include

  • To plan own workload, tasks to meet service requirements.
  • Communicate information to staff and patients.
  • To use computer systems to identify medication that is required to be ordered, labelled and dispensed
  • Accurately dispense, package, and label medication following pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • To order medication ensuring appropriate stock levels.
  • To ensure effective management of the pharmacy ordering system and stock control.
  • Check in deliveries.
  • To assist in delivering medicines and pharmaceutical supplies to units/wards within the Trust and to patients homes
  • Collect medication from the allocated community pharmacy and deliver to patient homes.
  • To carry out clinic checks and audits on medicine use and handling.
  • To ensure safe storage of medication.
  • To be involved with stock and date checks including CDs.
  • To assist with drug recall procedure as necessary.
  • To deal with routine enquiries from other health care workers and patients.
  • To accurately record information on electronic systems.
  • To participate in regular supervision identifying, developing and agreeing your own development plan
  • Any other duties as reasonably required by the line manager.
