We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council's
Housing Needs team as a
Temporary Accommodation Officer.


You will be required to provide an efficient service for our customers in temporary accommodation placed under the homelessness legislation duties, ensuring that they are all provided with the appropriate support in fulfilling the requirements of their Personalised Housing Plan and in line with internal processes.


You will be responsible for a portfolio of directly managed temporary accommodation units, delivering tenancy sign-ups, tenancy administration including data recording and retention, rents and voids, as well as data sharing with both internal and external services.

You will also work closely with any participating landlords, our internal Tenant Services and Voids team and relevant contractors, in responding to any disrepairs and fulfilling the requirements under the voids process.


You will have to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, interviewing and written communication skills along with a general understanding of Housing Legislation, Housing Benefit Regulations and Welfare Rights.

You will also possess excellent organisation and negotiation skills with the ability to remain calm when challenged or dealing with difficult situations.
