The Macmillan Navigator will be a single point of contact for our patients with cancer from the point of diagnosis to the end of treatment to co-ordinate the service and ensure a positive experience for the patient and family.


The purpose of this post is to pro-actively coordinate the administrative processes of the patient pathways for Oncology patients treated by ROHFT ensuring a compassionate, smooth and efficient service for patients throughout their treatment.

The role will focus on coordination of the patient pathway from the point of referral, throughout the hospital, ensuring that all the relevant investigations are requested by the oncology team and that follow up contact is timed appropriately including ensuring that all results are available at the time of follow up.

The role will require highlighting any potential delays in the pathway and working to mitigate the impact of
these problems to the patients.

The post holder will be expected to support patients and their families with navigating any part of their pathway and ensure that they are aware of all the support services available.

The post holder will be required to work with the Macmillan Team to develop patient pathways ensuring that the patient and carer experience is enhanced at every stage of the patient journey and that patient information needs are met.


We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic and motivated team player with excellent communication, IT and administration skills who is able to help us support patients and their families through the cancer journey.

Previous experience of Oncology is required either from an administration or caring role.

Take responsibility for the navigation aspects of the patient's journey to
ensure consultation, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up are carried out in a
timely manner. Liaise with the members of the MDT and departmental staff
within the speciality and support departments to ensure patients progress
smoothly and appropriately within and between hospitals and back to GPs.
