Description
We are delighted to have the opportunity to expand and redesign our existing Consultant Urology team. We are looking for two motivated and skilled individuals to join our busy, friendly and innovative department. Excellent communication and team working is essential.

The hospital has a dedicated IR theatre with excellent support via our interventional Radiologists.

Our Day Case Unit is currently rated as one of the best in the UK and urology in Torbay has the highest number of day case TURBTs in the country.

The consultant team enjoys excellent working relationships with the general surgical consultant body.

Outside of work, the South West is a great place to live whether you are looking to Dartmoor for walking and exploring the Tors, the local coast for water-sports or even a little bit further afield for a spot of surfing? With Exeter and Plymouth being within easy reach there is a wide range of diverse places on your doorstep for you to enjoy.

There is excellent local education provision with 2 grammar schools and excellent universities in both Plymouth and Exeter. With recently upgraded road and public transport links, the South West is easily accessible to all.

We are also looking to expand our paediatric urology service across both Torbay and the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, and a special interest in this would be welcomed.

Further training in paediatric urology would be supported. Both hospitals are a short distance apart served by excellent road links.

  • Laparoscopic nephrectomy
  • Functional urology
  • Robotic prostatectomy
  • Bladder outlet obstruction with HOLEP experience
Other sub-specialist interests will be considered.

The Urology Department has a strong teaching and training commitment with the 2 local medical schools (Plymouth Medical School and University of Exeter Medical School).

We have a well-established Urology Department, currently consisting of 4 full time Consultants, 1 part time Consultant post, 1 x Specialist Registrar and 1 Urology Fellow, 1 Core Trainee, 2 x F2 trainee and 1 F1 trainee.

The department is supported by 3 x Urology CNS', 5 Urology Nurse Practitioners and 2 HCAs.
