Junior Packaging Designer

Brief:
Under direction you will provide creative design amends and development for a wide range of product and branded offers.
As your confidence grows you will lead the concept creation on some projects and help deliver others as part of a wider team - includingamends, audits, research, building presentations and generally assisting on a variety of projects.
You will also update templates, presentations, create mock-ups and assist prop and product sourcing for shoots.Company:

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide design amends and creative support on a wide range of collateral to support your colleagues
- Follow the creative direction of your Design Head, but also offer interesting solutions where appropriate
- Support your peers and your seniors, offering to help when you perceive someone is overly stretched and needs your input to share some of the workload
- Learn and follow brand guidelines when amending concepts
- Identify areas of personal development and devise a plan with your line manager to develop your skills and technical knowledge
- Learn to present concepts with confidence to deliver their full impact
- Have fun and produce the best work you can
- Work with other designers in creating design work that answers the client's brief
- Ensure the creation of your design work/files meets the criteria
- Selfmonitor work in progress liaising with senior members of the team to ensure it meets quality, time & cost standards in line with creative objectives and budgets
- Develop a working knowledge of the print process and develop the ability to work with artwork files, cutter guides and brand guidelines to ensure your designs are fit for purpose
Experience Needed:
- This role is fully hands on so a good working knowledge of Apple Macintosh technology / DTP systems and Adobe Creative Suite is essential especially Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.
- A working knowledge of print process (flexo, lithographic, gravure) and the ability to work with artwork files, cutter guides and brand guidelines.
- Degree level in Graphic Design/equivalent or proven design industry experience.
- Experience in relevant industry role would be ideal but if a recent graduate examples of personal projects and other related experience will be considered
- A portfolio of work which demonstrates your creative credentials and ability to answer briefs appropriate to the role.
- Ability to work within Brand guidelines and consistently interpret them into online solutions.
- Knowledge and delivery of design for web processes and techniques.
- Understanding of how visuals and copy work together
- An understanding of FMCG Brands, categories and retail packaging, pos, npd and trends would be beneficial
- Experience in Art direction would be preferable
- Highly motivated individual with excellent communication and presentation skills
- Flexible attitude to working patterns to reflect the business requirement
- Typography skills and understanding of message hierarchy
- Ability to present concepts
- Quality Control: Accuracy to brief, follows appropriate file set up, naming conventions and colour set up and checks spelling and grammar.
