Outline:
The Ambulance Care Assistant Driver will provide patient transport services, convey non-emergency patients to and from hospital and clinic appointments ensuring the patient's welfare in transit and ensuring that safety and bestpractice are always adhered to.
The role requires the ability to work with vulnerable people who may be experiencing pain and be in distress in a caring and compassionate way.
PAYE:
£11.05ph, minimum 10hrs paid.
UMBRELLA - £13.50ph ,minimum 10hrs paid
Shift pattern:
Monday to Friday, start times vary depending on where the first pick up is.
About you (Essential)
- Hold a C1 (7.5t) and a D1 (up to 16 seats) licence.
- Experience within a similar role
- Strong communication skills
- Physically fit as you are required to lift patients
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Demonstrate a high level of service
- Willing to undergo suitable training (Manual handling, Risk Assessment, Customer Service, Client Induction, Advance Driving and First Aid) this will last 3 weeks which is paid.

- Flexible in working pattern to fit in with operational needs
- Basic literacy and numeracy
- Geographical knowledge of the area you are working within
- Knowledge of patient transport services
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist, move and handle patients who may be ambulatory or wheelchair users using appropriate moving and handling equipment. This could include using a carry chair, moving patients in and out of bed, moving patients onto stretchers.
- Minimise and deal with aggressive and abusive behaviour to reduce risk to safety and ensure patient welfare.
- Ensure the use of appropriate equipment and approved moving and handling techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness and follow daily checks of vehicles.
- Assist patients when leaving their homes taking all reasonable actions to ensure the safety and security of their property.
- Liaise and report to Control as directed for example updating location and status and respond appropriately to instructions
- Safeguard patients by escalating any concerns
- Maintain records as appropriate
- Comply with procedures, policies, guidelines, protocols, policies and relevant systems
- Adhere to all legislation
- To be flexible in finish times
- To be flexible in to support other hospitals/locations
