This role could be based in either our London or Edinburgh offices with time spent working in the office and at home.

Salary and benefits:

The role
This role supports our iconic Standard Life brand and is at the forefront of delivering on our ambitious plans.

We are seeking a Senior Content Strategist with strong writing and editorial skills to create and drive our content marketing strategy across multiple channels, targeting consumer and B2B audiences in the UK.

This role is perfect for a creative, data-driven, and strategic thinker who is passionate about creating compelling content that drives engagement, leads, and conversions.

Experience in financial journalism would desirable.


Reporting to the Content and Social Media Lead, you will be a part of the Content and social team within our wider Marketing Communications department leading on the writing and creation of cross-audience content.

You will work closely with the other content leads in the team who each focus on content creation for specific key audience groups and more widely with cross-functional teams across marketing and the wider business.

You will deputise for the Content and Social Media Lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the other content leads in the team to help develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with our business objectives and target audience
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including Marketing, Proposition, PR, Distribution and Policy to create and distribute engaging content, such as research papers, thought leadership blogs, case studies, webinars, and video scripts.
  • Conduct analysis and stay uptodate with industry trends to identify content gaps and opportunities for content and thought leadership
  • Review content performance using analytics tools and adjust the strategy accordingly to maximise ROI
  • Take a digital first approach to content creation
  • Utilise SEO best practices and keyword research to optimise content for search engines and drive organic traffic
  • Help manage the editorial calendar and ensure timely delivery of highquality content
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry influencers and partners to expand our content reach and amplify our brand
  • Develop, edit and proofread content to ensure consistent tone of voice and messaging across all channels
  • Manage a small team of content creators and social producers
  • Utilise technology to inform decisions around content creation and activity. Championing tools we have adopted across the business as well technology you wish to deploy within the team such as leveraging AI

What we're looking for

  • Extensive years of experience in content strategy and creation
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful strategic content marketing campaigns that drive leads and conversions
  • Strong editorial skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional storytelling and copywriting abilities, with experience adapting content for different channels and audiences with a digital first approach
  • Knowledge of SEO and digital best practices and experience using analytics tools to measure content performance
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams
  • Work with the team to create content of all formats including editorial (evergreen and long form) video, content series', campaigns and content partnerships

  • Strong analytical capabilities ability to calculate ROI on every bit of content produced by the team
  • Experienced in developing strong relationships at multiple levels of an organisation and across partner agencies/suppliers
