Job description
We have an exciting opportunity to join us in the Type 31 (T31) Frigate Delivery Team.


The T31 will be at the heart of the Royal Navy's surface fleet, deterring aggression and maintaining the security of the UK's interests abroad.

As part of the Ships Acquisition Operating Centre, you will be working to help deliver five T31 frigates to theRoyal Navy by December 2028.


As a Technical Through Life Support Manager (TLSM), you will be leading on the training design development and delivery for T31 and be responsible for contributing to the control of the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) contracted deliverables.

Your work base will be in Bristol. Some working from home will be available, but an in-office attendance will be expected as required.

This Role offers opportunities for regular and varied UK and International travel. Locations may include Naval Bases, military & training establishments, and industrial supplier's premises.

About the role
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
As the TLSM, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage the delivery of Training and Personnel related ILS Element Plans and approval of the associated ILS documentation.
  • Monitor Supplier(s) progress in meeting the contractual agreed specifications.
  • Manage the support network ensuring contracted suppliers, customers, and other Through Life Support stakeholders are kept informed on progress.
  • Coordinate the support compliance and risks for their area of responsibility into the T31 overarching Supportability Case.
  • Support other colleagues and team members in contributing to support, trials, tests, evaluations, and acceptance panels.
  • Oversee and contribute to the contractor's delivery of Training Design and Integration of T31 specific training solutions into the Royal Navy's training system, including the Virtual Learning Environment.
  • Coordinate and assist Naval Command training reviews, contributing to the training solution for User/Maintainer working with Suppliers in the design of individual/collective training material, courses, including simulators, off board, on board, VirtualLearning Environment.
  • Be the representative for T31 as the training lead in wider support interfaces such as tools, test equipment, software, technical documentation, publications, and assurance.

Person specification

  • A background of working in at least one of the following fields: ILS/IPS, support engineering, maintenance planning, training design or operational logistic support management.
  • Experience in delivering continuous improvement activities and reducing whole life cost expenditure.
  • Experience in delivering at pace to meet challenging project milestones.
  • An understanding in the design of training solutions.
