We are looking for an experienced and exceptional Clinical Nurse Leader who can support the workforce in provision of outstanding patient care.

Accountable for compliance with fundamental standards of nursing care, delivering improvements in line with both local and national guidance


Leads on the delivery of the nursing/midwifery strategy within the Care Group ensuring Adopts a highly visible and accessible approach for patients and staff, empowering and developing staff to undertake a wide range of clinical activities to ensure that the care provided is in line with latest local and national guidance.

Accountable for ensuring the appropriate management of nursing and midwifery teams, clinical leadership, infection prevention and control and standards of patient care; the post holder will, in turn, both support and hold Matrons and Senior Staff to account ensuring that organisational key performance, Care Quality Commission standards and quality indicators are monitored and results are addressed and actioned

Acts as a positive role model ensuring effective professional leadership, demonstrating competent, accountable clinical practice and modelling of the core values of the Trust

leadership, advice and support to colleagues within the Care Group leading on specific projects


Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ' Priority ' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
Professional


  • To provide professional and expert knowledge of the services within the Care Group, helping to support the development of practice.
  • Develop new models of practice aligned to modernising nursing and midwifery workforce that helps to provide up to date care that is reflective of the national agenda, local demand and trust vision.
  • Remain up to date with professional nursing and midwifery developments and utilise this knowledge to influence service improvement, practice, education and training.
  • Represent the Care Group at the Trust site meetings as required in line with the escalation framework thus ensuring safe staffing, care delivery and that patient flow is optimised.
  • When required, deputise for the ACNO in representing the Trust at local, regional and national level for all specialities within remit of responsibility.
  • Use specialist training and experience to support others in leading complex clinical and nonclinical situations.
  • Act as a coach/mentor, to enhance the performance and capability of others leading to appropriate succession planning. Where required provide constructive feedback to support and enable others to develop, increase skills and abilities.
  • Directly contribute to the strategic vision for the development of high quality services within
the Care Group in line with the Trust's Clinical and Quality Strategy.


  • Support the ACNO to plan, develop, implement and subsequently evaluate any changes in working practice within the Care Group that aligns itself with the Trust's objectives. Specifically, this relates to the continuing evolution of the changing workforce within Nursing and Midwifery.
  • Lead on Service Improvement projects, translating National and Local improvement initiatives/programmes into practice.
  • Analyse performance data in respect of key performance indicators (i.e. patient flow, budgets, and workforce utilisation), design and implement systems to communicate this to key individuals and take appropriate action to address trends/findings.
