We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our busy friendly team as clerical administrator to provide a comprehensive administration service to the Cellular Pathology Department.

You will be working as part of a large team supporting the Histopathologists and lead medical secretaries. Our A+C services are based at QMC and Nottingham City hospital campuses.

This is a full time substantive position working Monday - Friday (9am to 5pm)

Main duties of the job


Duties will include administrative tasks such as typing reports and handling correspondence, which may be of a complex nature and vary depending on the speciality.

You would be working as part of a team and will be required to use your own initiative to provide a comprehensive administration service.

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills. An administrative qualification or keyboard skills would be desirable. Previous experience would be an advantage but comprehensive training will also be given.

Working for our organisation


Cellular pathology is a large diagnostic department at NUH with 180 staff; laboratories on both campuses and A&C teams working across both sites.

Service operates Monday to Saturday.


This is an exciting time to join the department as we are utilising new technology such as Digital Pathology imaging and speech recognition software.

We are also looking for individuals to engage in the workflow process reviews to support the transformation of our service to deliver timely diagnostics.

The job involves the below:
To provide a clerical administration service to the Department, whilst adhering to codes of practice concerning confidentiality and Data Protection

Handling clinical letters and other clinical correspondence as required, from audio and or copy typing

Typing of post mortems as required.

Typing cellular pathology reports as required, providing cover for all teams as required across both campus

Co-ordinates and manages diaries for consultants on a daily basis Progress and track expedited patient request

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • 4 GCSE's or equivalent including English
  • 4 GCSE's Grade A-C or equivalent including English and Maths.
  • Administration/secretarial skills
Desirable criteria

  • Recognised secretarial/administration qualification e.g. NVQ in administration
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of a range of secretarial procedures with previous office experience.
  • Medical terminology.
Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of hospital systems,
  • Previous NHS experience.
Communication

Essential criteria

  • Understands and practices the principles of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Able to communicate information using a variety of written and verbal communication skills.

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
