This appointment is for a Senior Clinical Fellow posts in General Surgery to start as soon as possible until 03 October 2023 only, for reason of covering a Health Education Training Gap, the post is based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

There is currently a 1:14 on call rota.

The clinical fellow will help the surgical teams in managing both elective and emergency patients.

They will work alongside foundation doctors, specialty trainees and clinical fellows in managing patients from the time of their admission, throughout their treatment, to the time of their discharge.

Patients will need to be seen on daily ward rounds.


The post holder will work across both sites and will have ample opportunity to gain experience of the full range of general surgery.

There is a 1:14 rota commitment with this post.


The post holder will be required to support the foundation, core and junior fellow doctors and liaise with the registrars regarding patient care.

  • Daily ward rounds, inpatient and outpatient management of patients and operating lists
  • To participate in the department's teaching, audit, and educational activities
  • The appointed post holder will participate on a 1:14 oncall rota.
  • The post will be a balance of outpatient, day case and inpatient operating duties.
