About the role:

As our Head of Finance, Wearables, you will provide finance leadership to the Wearables Category. Dyson organises its business into product Categories, which are responsible for a global Category Profit & Loss Statement (P&L).

This is a critical business partnering role, influencing decision making at RDD, Operations & Category team, Executive Committee and Board Level.

You will work directly with the Wearables Category Director and their team to plan, control and optimise the global Category P&L performance.

The overall objective of the role is to act as a key financial, commercial, and strategic business partner to the Wearables Category Director, and their team


This will include:

  • Leading a financial agenda that balances short
- and medium-term profit and cash delivery with long term sustainable growth and brand health.

  • Establishing financial performance by using analytical capability that provides category and market intelligence.
  • Providing insight on business health by devising and holding the business to key financial and nonfinancial performance measures.
  • Giving clarity and insight into the category outlook by leading short, medium and longterm business planning.
  • Supporting ongoing product development with NPD evaluations and milestone governance.
  • Supporting the commercial development of the category by bringing a clear financial lens to ranging, pricing and product decisions and by driving transparency in volume performance, margin management, Brand Building Investment (BBI) effectiveness and cost control.
  • Optimising the business model, including by internally and externally benchmarking category and market performance.
  • Financial and working capital management through the sales and operational planning forums, governing resource allocation, sponsoring cost initiatives (including product cost, capex, brand building and central costs) and driving a culture of generating strong financial returns and value for money.
You will support category performance management from market reviews through to Executive and Board reporting:

  • Accountability across markets, together with Commercial and RDD.
  • Market benchmarking, product/channel/promotional/market mix management.
  • Develop and manage timely and relevant reporting, analysis and KPI measures (financial and nonfinancial).

You will lead BBI and promo effectiveness:

  • Manage financial returns to maximise Return on Investment (ROI)
  • Optimise product and infrastructure building investment.
  • Support effective promotional strategy.

You will support product lifecycle management:

  • Manage portfolio analysis and effectiveness, SKU proliferation, range transitioning, product end of life.
  • Manage investment appraisal, milestones' governance, post investment review, and support launch scenario planning.

You will support sales and operational planning processes:

  • Oversee category demand, supply and capacity planning and ensure they are aligned with financial forecasts.
  • Support product allocation prioritisation and working capital management.
And you will support category strategy and business planning:

  • Range planning, pricing, product strategy.
  • Go To Market, business model development, and market strategy.
  • Cost optimisation across product, capex and operational costs.
  • Direct and indirect responsibility for managing the work and development of Finance Managers/ Analysts supporting Commercial and RDD teams.

About you:
